AIMS & BROAD OBJECTIVES
Our university level teaching diploma is comprehensive, practical and industry-relevant qualifications designed to equip you for peripatetic instrumental teaching. Focusing on teaching from a hands-on perspective, the course uses practical demonstrations and covers academic and sector-specific knowledge. The Diploma Level 6 in Music Teaching (Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Keyboard, Drums and Bass) provides students with the opportunity to become highly skilled artist-teachers, ready to teach different genres of music.
- Learners of this course will:
- build up awareness, through practical experience, of how to engage effectively with a range of students in the
teaching studio, showing sensitivity to individual needs - develop their knowledge of music drawn from a variety of different styles
- execute collaborative work effectively at a professional level, adjusting their practice in light of
self-evaluation - demonstrate an awareness of the material they are working with in relation to graded music examinations
- develop original approaches to presenting concepts to students, including working in ways which develop
students’ creativity - demonstrate secure command in communicating subject knowledge
- plan work to achieve and evidence set goals
- reflect critically on their own practice and that of others

LESSON MATERIAL AND SCHEDULE
The lesson will take place once a week for two hours, online with live teachers. The course lasts 3 years, 10 months from each level with two months of break in between. All the materials of study will be provided and will be included in the monthly quota. At the end of the 10 months of lessons, the student will take the exam Online with the London College of Music external examiner and obtain the following certifications:
YEAR ONE: Diploma of The London College of Music (DPLCM) in Teaching
YEAR TWO: Associate of The London College of Music (ALCM) in Teaching
YEAR THREE: Licentiate of The London College of Music (LLCM) in Teaching

DipLCM in Teaching: Year One
This diploma requires the candidate to demonstrate the fundamental skills and understanding required by a competent instrumental music teacher, consistent with a Level 1 (first-year) undergraduate module. Examiners will expect to encounter evidence of solid basic teaching skills, a performance technique which equips the candidate to demonstrate pieces with clarity and confidence, and the ability to communicate appropriate knowledge and understanding with verbal articulacy.
ALCM in Teaching: Year Two
This diploma requires the candidate to demonstrate the skills and understanding required by a competent and proficient instrumental music teacher, consistent with a Level 2 (second-year) undergraduate module. Examiners will expect to encounter evidence of accomplished and confident teaching skills, a performance technique which equips the candidate to demonstrate pieces with clarity and authority, and the ability to communicate appropriate knowledge and understanding with clear verbal articulacy.
LLCM in Teaching: Year Three
This diploma demands a fully professional standard of teaching, musicianship and educational skills, consistent with a Level 3 (final-year) undergraduate module. Evidence of experience and expertise as a teacher, a secure and versatile performance technique, and the ability to communicate a tangible sense of understanding and insight into the teaching process, will be expected.
London College of Music is an esteemed Conservatoire of Music located in the heart of London, founded in 1887 and now Faculty of the Arts at the University of West London. Through its external examinations department, London College of Music Examinations, it arranges examination sessions in numerous nations around the world, thus offering the opportunity to pursue their Certificates and Diplomas recognized in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
LCM degrees in Music Performance and Teaching are regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA. The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a framework that links qualifications from different countries. It acts as a translation tool to make qualifications more easily understood in different European countries and systems. The EQF levels for LCM examinations can be found in the Regulated Qualifications Registry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All candidates are invited to audition.
They should demonstrate a Grade 8 Level of playing/singing and a knowledge of Popular Music Theory. Candidates with a Grade 8 Certificate in Music Performance and a Grade 5 Certificate in Music Theory will be automatically admitted to the program.
The audition will require a performance and sight reading/singing, as well as Popular Music Theory questions.
